Whole-house filtration
Fitted at the point the water enters the property, near the meter. Everything downstream runs filtered — kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, the lot. It is the bigger job because it means cutting into the main line and building a bypass so the house is not without water every time a cartridge is due. Under-sink filtration
A cartridge housing in the kitchen cupboard, fed off the cold line and feeding a tap. This is the cheapest way to fix the taste of what you drink and cook with, and it is the one most households start with. A couple of hours if the cupboard and the cold feed cooperate. Reverse osmosis
The highest level of drinking-water purification you can put under a domestic sink. Water is pushed through a membrane rather than simply strained through carbon, so it is a multi-stage unit, it needs a small storage tank, and it needs a drain connection that a standard cartridge system does not. A dedicated filtered tap
Not a system on its own — a small separate tap beside your mixer, so filtered water has its own spout and the main tap carries on doing everything else. Already have one?
Plenty of Kardinya houses already have something under the sink. It went in with a kitchen renovation, or with the previous owners, and nobody has touched it since.
If the flow has slowed to a dribble or the chlorine taste has crept back, that is a cartridge, not a new system. It is a smaller job than the one you were about to book, and we would rather do the smaller job. Cartridge replacement and servicing
How to choose between them
Start with what is annoying you
If it is the taste of a glass of water or a cup of tea, under-sink fixes it and you do not need to spend on more. If it is the shower, the laundry, marks on the glassware, or filtered water being available at precisely one tap in the house, that is whole-house.
Then look at the space
An under-sink cartridge housing needs room in the cupboard and needs to be reachable, because somebody has to change the cartridge later. Reverse osmosis needs meaningfully more room again, because of the tank. A whole-house system needs a spot near where the water comes in that is protected and can be got at.
Then the benchtop
If you want a separate filtered tap and there is no spare hole, the benchtop gets drilled. On laminate that is routine. On stone it is a slower, more careful job, and it is the kind of thing that should be on the quote rather than discovered on the day.
Then what the house already has
A 1970s Kardinya kitchen has had fittings changed by a lot of different hands. What is actually under there — the isolation valve, the cold feed, the condition of it — decides whether this is a simple job or one with a step in front of it. That is what the free visit is for.

What we do not do
We do not sell health claims. A filter changes taste, odour, sediment and chlorine, and that is a good enough reason on its own. The mains supply in Perth is treated and monitored, and we are not going to imply otherwise to move a bigger unit.
We also will not talk you into whole-house when under-sink does the thing you are actually annoyed about. That is what customer satisfaction guaranteed means in practice.
